The Canon FD Series Conversion Kits Coming Soon!

By July 29, 2019No Comments

The FDtoEF Canon FD series conversion kits are coming late Fall 2019. The Canon FD series lenses span about ten years from around the early 1970’s to the early 1980’s. Within this period Canon produced three different versions of breech ring FD lenses: The first version had a chrome plated front barrel (nicknamed “chrome nose”) and a green “o” for auto exposure. The second version had a black front barrel and still had a green “o” for auto exposure. The third version had a black front barrel, and a green “A” for auto exposure. (typically S.C. or S.S.C. lenses)Soon you will be able to convert these breech lock Canon lenses with our high quality metal conversion kits, retaining full aperture control and infinity focus without any degradation of picture quality and change in crop factor.

The product conversion FD to EF plates are built, but the aperture control links are still going to through some final design tweaks. Unlike the FDn aperture control rings which can be changed by simply swapping out the original Canon aperture control ring with our uniquely designed version, the FD series isn’t as simple.

Converting the FD series will require replacing the aperture control link, via two tiny M1.4 screws (included in the kit), so a steady hand and patience will go a long way. I’ll post a video to my YouTube channel detailing the conversion process and steps to avoid other complications.

The Canon FD Conversion Kits should be ready to ship in September 2019. Look for more news and updates on availability in future.
